Here's an interesting recent development on the entire Nevada Test Site:
Nevada Test Site has received new name: Nevada National Security site

As everyone knows, the so-called base of operations of the government at Groom Lake (aka Area 51) is right next to the test site.
Even if, for all these years, no direct relationship between Area 51 and the test site has been demonstrated, despite being right next to it, my opinion is that things will change in the very near future.
With this new policy and with this new development, my belief is that some programs and some operations of 'Area 51 may extend to the west, inside the Nevada Test Site (now officially called the National Security Site).
It 'obvious that the R & D (research and development) and testing of emerging technologies (in the name of "anti-terror" weapons) will be held at the new site designated for national security.
If this is the case, Area 51 will expand and can definitely benefit from the use of much larger space to integrate their programs with those of the National Security Site.
Hopefully, if this is the course, such R & D and testing programs to run without any serious breach of environmental
